Public Policy Projects Global Genomics Conference 2023

Louisa Ghevaert was delighted to attend the Public Policy Projects Global Genomics Conference 2023 on 9 November 2023 in Westminster, London and join the debate about key policy, structural and ethical considerations of participation in genomics. It opened with an insightful address by Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell, Executive Chairman of PPP. The Shadow Minister for Science Research and Innovation Chi Onwurah MP then delivered a keynote speech on what the UK has already achieved and what still needs to be done to release its full potential in genomics.

Genomics England Research Summit 2023

Louisa Ghevaert was delighted to attend Genomics England Research Summit at the Design Center in London on 19 September 2023. It brought together the genomics community to continue to advance research and drive forward much-needed healthcare benefits and genomic medicine for patients, parents, children and families. It was particularly encouraging to hear about progress with the Newborn Genome Screening Programme.

The Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing

Louisa Ghevaert attended the Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing held at the Francis Crick Institute in London from 6 - 8 March 2023. The Summit was arranged by the UK Royal Society, UK Academy of Medical Sciences, US National Academies of Sciences and Medicine and the World Academy of Sciences. Its aim was to address the progress, benefits and challenges in research, regulation and equitable development of human genome editing technologies and therapies.

Perspectives on Illumina’s Genomics Forum 2022

Illumina's inaugural in-person Genomics Forum 2022 in San Diego, USA, from 28 September - 1 October 2022 sent a clear message that the genomic health revolution is here. This trailblazing event brought together global leaders, scientific researchers, medics, policy makers, the data and technology sector and beyond to advance and push the boundaries of what is possible in the genomic era. Its collaborative and innovative approach, combined with its positive call to action, delivered an inspiring message of hope for the broad and effective use of genomic technology to deliver precision and preventative healthcare and disease surveillance to prevent the next pandemic.
