Welfare of the Fertility Patient: Spotting and Treating Trauma

On 13 March 2023, Louisa Ghevaert was pleased to attend Progress Educational Trust's event "Welfare of the Fertility Patient: Spotting Signs and Treatment after Trauma". This raised awareness of the importance of considering the welfare of fertility patients and not just the welfare of the child. At present, there is nothing in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 (as amended) which explicitly states that the welfare of patients should be considered.

Public Policy Projects Global Genomics Conference 2023

Louisa Ghevaert was delighted to attend the Public Policy Projects Global Genomics Conference 2023 on 9 November 2023 in Westminster, London and join the debate about key policy, structural and ethical considerations of participation in genomics. It opened with an insightful address by Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell, Executive Chairman of PPP. The Shadow Minister for Science Research and Innovation Chi Onwurah MP then delivered a keynote speech on what the UK has already achieved and what still needs to be done to release its full potential in genomics.

Genomics England Research Summit 2023

Louisa Ghevaert was delighted to attend Genomics England Research Summit at the Design Center in London on 19 September 2023. It brought together the genomics community to continue to advance research and drive forward much-needed healthcare benefits and genomic medicine for patients, parents, children and families. It was particularly encouraging to hear about progress with the Newborn Genome Screening Programme.

Decoding The Future of Women 2023

Louisa Ghevaert attended Decoding the Future of Women, a health tech conference, on 12 June 2023 during London Tech Week. Its mission was to positively change the FemTech sector by changing the narrative and addressing key issues and themes. What does the future hold for women? What does future fertility, longevity, scientific discovery and sustainability look like? It asked contributors (including investors, corporate innovators and cutting-edge start-ups) to bring their most visionary self to the conference. The results were fascinating insights about what an empowered female future looks like.
