This follows the latest parental order figures disclosed by The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) which show Nigeria is the second most popular surrogacy destination after the US. Previously, Georgia and Ukraine were the second and third most popular international surrogacy destinations for intended parents from England.

Louisa Ghevaert was pleased to attend the relaunch of The Surrogacy Network on 22 April 2026. This event addressed recent UK surrogacy trends and statistics, as well as advocacy and pathways to parenthood for those individuals with Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser Syndrome (MRKH).This event brought together experts from across the UK fertility and surrogacy sector to inform and educate professionals and deliver best practice. It also highlighted the importance of raising awareness and improving support for different groups of people who experience uterine factor infertility.

The Hague Conference on Private International Law Suspends Project On Cross-Border Parentage/Surrogacy Framework

The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) has announced that it is suspending its project on a cross-border parentage and surrogacy framework. This follows more than 15 years of work which sought to address "limping legal parentage" of children born in international situations and the development of an international Convention for the recognition of legal parentage across Member States.

On 10 May 2025 Louisa Ghevaert was pleased to attend the Growing Families UK and EU Surrogacy and Donor Conception Conference 2025, together with and an industry professional networking event on 9 May 2025 in London. This conference brought together fertility, surrogacy agency, academic and legal experts from around the world, as well as past and present intended parents building families through fertility treatment, international surrogacy and donor conception. It shone a light on current surrogacy and donor conception laws, trends and practices. It also provided insight into current medical, legal, ethical, financial and practical aspects associated with these forms of family building.
