The British Fertility Society’s Modern Families Day 2020

The British Fertility Society's Study Week 2020 will be delivered 'virtually' this year given the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of this virtual study week, Louisa Ghevaert will re-join the panel of expert speakers at its annual Modern Families Day on 15 June 2020 and deliver a session addressing the legal aspects of surrogacy. This virtual Modern Families Day training module is aimed at UK doctors and fertility nurses.

Law Commission: reforming surrogacy law

In May 2018, the Law Commission of England and Wales and the Scottish Law Commission finally began work on a surrogacy reform project. On 6 June 2019, it published a much-anticipated joint consultation paper, entitled “Building families through surrogacy: a new law”. Perspectives on surrogacy law reform

Last Friday, 19 July 2019, Louisa attended The Law Commission’s surrogacy consultation event at Exeter University “Building families through surrogacy: a new law”. The Law Commission explained its proposals for surrogacy law reform and its new pathway to legal parenthood for surrogate born children.
