This study explores the social, political, economic and moral issues, implications and outcomes associated with egg donation in the UK, Belgium and Spain to help improve understanding and help shape future egg donation policy and practice.

Fertility and Family Law, Policy and Practice in 2020

As we start the new decade, 2020, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the rapidly evolving fertility sector and the implications of this for fertility patients and families. Individual fertility and family building are key components in the stability and future success of our society and law, policy and practice needs to take greater account of our growing reliance on assisted and donor conception.

Consumer law guidelines for the IVF sector

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on 7 February 2020 that it is investigating concerns about possible mis-selling of IVF 'add-on' treatments and misrepresentation of fertility treatment clinic success rates in the UK. The CMA also announced that it intends to produce written guidance (currently lacking in the UK) on consumer protection law for the IVF sector.

BBC Radio 5 Live Interview: proposals to lift advertising restrictions on surrogacy in the UK

During a BBC Radio 5 Live interview with Sarah Brett on 29 January 2020, Louisa Ghevaert was pleased to debate proposals to lift UK advertising restrictions on surrogacy and wider surrogacy law reform currently under consideration by The Law Commission of England and Wales and The Scottish Law Commission.
